39 LA students have participated in the annual National Mathematics Contest, organized by the Uganda Mathematics Society (UMS) to show their math skills.

15 students , from S-5 and S-6 , took A-level Paper-I and 24 students from S-3 and S-4 , took O-level Paper-I on 15th March 2014 . A training program for Paper-II will be given by Math Club. It is intended to facilitate interest in mathematics of LA students. It will provide an intensive learning environment in mathematics, where LA students will learn not only useful mathematical facts, but also how to approach mathematical problems, prove mathematical statements, and write the results. Supervisors of the program are LA math teachers Mr. Muhereza David and Mr. Kisakye John.

Mathematics is not in our family

This is what most students say. To those who usually say this, I persuade you to practice daily and within a short time, you will be astonished by your success. Turning to the Uganda Mathematics contest, where we tackle more feasible daily mathematics than the theoretical one; as a student who has participated in the contest for two years, I would say the 2013 ‘O’ level contest was trickier than the 2014 ‘O’ level contest and I encourage more students to participate in the contest to improve their skills in mathematics.
