HISTORY OF LASS
Light Academy Uganda was opened with a total of about 45 students in the school at Kansanga in a storage building with only the ordinary level. Light Academy Uganda was transferred to the newly established campus on Lweza – Kigo Road off Entebbe -Kla Road(Kajjansi-Munyonyo Highway) with the total of about 83 students from senior one to senior four. The school is now located here on the shores of Lake Victoria with the lake view overlooking the school.
Light Academy Uganda began the construction of a gigantic and massive block of hostels meant to accommodate the state of the art hostel facilities for the accommodation of the students. The hostels have the capacity of about 440 students but only 384 below are allowed in the hostel with each hostel accommodation only sixteen students. The completion of hostels was seen and the students were relocated to the new hostel with each hostel of sixteen students. The hostels block comprised of four meeting rooms, two luggage rooms, and a staff quarter for supervisors. Light Academy Uganda opened the newly constructed bathrooms to complement the existing ones in the hostels with a total of twenty bath rooms and twenty toilets coupled with the showers and flashing systems full installed. Light Academy Uganda started the tiling of the hostel campus and the construction of a vast dining hall that was to seat the increasing population at the school of almost 400 students.
Light Academy Uganda was the 44th in the 2006 Uganda National Exams Board’s results with the best having 9 points in eight subjects. The average passing of the students was 63.3% with 60 students where by 40 hand first grades according to the weekly observer.Light Academy Uganda was the 15th in the overall 2007 Uganda National Exams Board’s results according to the New Visions analysis with an average passing of the students being 73%. Light Academy Uganda was the 12th in the overall 2009 Uganda National Exams Board’s results with the best having 8 point in eight subjects according to the New vision analysis with the average passing of the students being 87.5%. And currently it is the best foreign-owned school in the country
Light Academy Uganda won a bronze medal and a silver medal in the International Turkish Olympiad that was held in Istanbul-Turkey.
