School Curricular

Light Academy offers the Uganda national development centre (NCDC) curriculum. Both the ordinary and Advanced level leavers are assessed using the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB).

General Information

Hours of Study

The school day begins at 8:00am and ends at 4:27pm for normal classes. This is followed by extra classes from 4:30pm to 5:30pm.

Assemblies

School assemblies are held every Saturday morning, bringing together all teachers, administrators, and students for important announcements, motivation, and community building.

ICT

The school cherishes computer aided learning (CAL) and ICT based teaching. All staff are equipped and continuously improve their ICT skills and apply them in their professional practice.

Co-curricular Involvement

a) Make a valuable contribution to school life outside of the classroom by participating in and developing clubs & societies, house activities, community service and other school programmes as a mentor, coach, trainer, organizer, booster, guide, advisor and model.

b) Popularize the school co-curricular programme to become vibrant and dynamic. Encourage student leadership and responsibility.

c) Organise recreational and adventure trips for students where appropriate.

Progression Targets

The school set a 60% standard minimum attainment level for normal progression to the next class for O level and at least 12 points for A level. This will be determined from time to time.
