Light Academy offers the Uganda national development centre (NCDC) curriculum. Both the ordinary and Advanced level leavers are assessed using the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB).
The school day begins at 8:00am and ends at 5:30pm. 5:30pm to 6:30pm is time for co-curricular activities. All staff are required to report for duty by 7:45am. This also applies to teachers who may not have lessons during the first period.

School assemblies are held every Monday and Friday from 7:50am – 8:15am. All teachers, administrators and students attend.
The school cherishes computer aided learning (CAL) and ICT based teaching. All staff are equipped and continuously improve their ICT skills and apply them in their professional practice.
a) Make a valuable contribution to school life outside of the classroom by participating in and developing clubs & societies, house activities, community service and other school programmes as a mentor, coach, trainer, organizer, booster, guide, advisor and model.
b) Popularizethe school co-curricular programme to become vibrant and dynamic. Encourage student leadership and responsibility.
c) Organise recreational and adventure trips for students where appropriate.
The school set a 60% standard minimum attainment level for normal progression to the next class for O level and at least 12 points for A level. This will be determined from time to time.
