In November 2025, Light Academy Secondary School proudly sent two student teams to the Craydel Cup finals held in Nairobi, Kenya. The Craydel Cup – Kenya & Uganda’s largest inter-school business pitch competition – brought together dozens of top student teams to present innovative solutions to local challenges. LASS fielded two teams of five students each to represent Uganda on this regional stage. The experience offered the students invaluable exposure and a chance to compete alongside Kenya’s best young entrepreneurs.
Each team presented a creative business idea. Team Candle pitched a mosquito-repellent wristband, a wearable device infused with natural repellent to help protect people from malaria and other mosquito-borne diseases. The band’s design is safe, easy to wear, and child-friendly, addressing a critical health need in Uganda. The other team, Team Tsip, unveiled an online education platform to connect teachers and students through virtual lessons. This e-learning platform is intended to provide supplementary tutoring and improve academic performance. Both projects drew praise for their practicality and social impact, reflecting the students’ ingenuity and commitment to community problems.
Light Academy celebrated the students’ achievement in reaching the finals. School leaders applauded the teams for their hard work and entrepreneurial spirit, noting the honor of representing Uganda in this prestigious regional contest. The Craydel Cup experience is expected to inspire future LASS students to pursue innovation and entrepreneurship. The school community is proud of its students for flying Uganda’s flag at East Africa’s premier high-school business competition, and looks forward to building on this success in years to come.
