History of Light Academy Secondary School

Light Academy Secondary School was established with a clear mission — to provide quality education grounded in discipline, excellence, and moral values. From its modest beginnings, the school has grown into a model institution recognized for its academic achievements, holistic education approach, and strong character formation.

Founded in 1999, Light Academy began as a small school with about 45 students in Kansanga, operating in a storied building with only the Ordinary Level (O’Level) section. With a few classrooms, limited resources, and a handful of determined teachers, the school quickly gained a reputation for academic rigor and a disciplined environment that fostered both intellectual and moral growth.

As years passed, Light Academy expanded its facilities and programs, introducing state-of-the-art science and computer laboratories, a modern library, and well-structured boarding houses. The school community grew stronger, united by a shared vision of academic excellence and character development.

Over time, Light Academy has not only excelled in national examinations but also gained recognition in national and international competitions, producing students who have gone on to excel in universities and professional fields across the world. The school’s continued success is a testament to its unwavering commitment to shaping exceptional minds and inspiring responsible global citizens.
